About Me

Man in sunglasses stands in a narrow alley with white and blue walls.

By profession, I work in the energy industry, spending the majority of my time involved in overseeing the engineering and construction of large electrical infrastructure projects such as substations and T&D lines for interconnecting renewable energy systems. I travel heavily for work both domestic and internationally and have been doing so ever since I started my career.

Over the years that constant movement turned into something more than just work travel. I developed a real appreciation for experiencing places beyond airports and project sites, finding the restaurants locals actually go to, the hotels that feel special rather than corporate, and the small cultural details that make every place different.

Outside of work, I’m a father first. My son keeps life grounded and usually has me at a baseball field somewhere when I’m not on a plane. It's developed into not only a hobby and passion for him, but for me as well. I've taken on a role as an additional assistant coach to help our head coach, Bryan, and it's been so rewarding to be a part of the boys lives and helping them, coaching them, and just simply being a friend to them. They did dub me as the "fun coach" at our end of season party and that's a trophy I'll gladly accept.

I’ve also picked up a few other passions along the way, including earning my helicopter pilot’s license, riding Harleys,  shotgun clay shooting, and of course... traveling the world, drinking the finest old world wines, smoking the best cigars, and enjoying food; all done in places that's hard to even comprehend. It's really the pinnacle of hedonism which is why I have to take time to to bring myself back down to earth quite often.

Language and culture have always interested me. I started learning Spanish in high school from friends and have kept it polished through travel and friends as well as time spent in Spanish-speaking countries. It’s opened the door to experiences and conversations that would have otherwise been missed.  This site is simply a place to document those experiences, the places I’ve traveled, hotels that stood out, wines and meals worth remembering, and the occasional notes on cigars and other simple pleasures along the way.

I hope you enjoy the content.
