Hotels of Colombia

Built in 1946 by architect Santiago Medina Mejía, this luxury historic hotel was declared a national monument of Colombia. It hosts only 62 rooms.

Much like the rest of Baku, the hotel was exceptionally modern, clean, and luxurious. 

Dark, hand carved wooden furniture, dark wood floors, beamed ceilings, and working fireplaces, each room is distinctly appointed to match the overall calm, warm, luxury vibe of the hotel itself. 

The property has an on site restaurant called Castanyoles featuring small plates and Spanish style cuisine. In the mornings, staff would work hard to completely transform a gathering room into a large display of buffet items to include local pastries of Colombia as well as typical Colombian breakfast fare that rotated daily.  

There was also an amazingly done speakeasy bar called Boulevardier which had excellent cocktails, food, and warm and relaxing atmosphere.

This hotel was simply wonderful, it only has 62 rooms so there wasn't a lot of people running around which made it even better. I felt I was in more of a luxury estate rather than a hotel. The outide was made of brick with beautiful columns at the front entrance that opened up to a beautiful staircase inside with two large paintings and two salons, one for sitting and reading and one where you check in that had a beautiful fireplace. 

Moving on from the lobby, there was one area that was my absolute favorite, the courtyard. It was kind of in the middle of the hotel you could say, there was a corner of the courtyard that I found myself to frequent quite often every day. It had a large canopy over a massive fire table and located next to a very old and large tree that just completed the scene. I sat there more times than I could count with cups of espresso and fine cuban cigars.

Remember, the hotel was small. It's historic, quaint, and simple. There's no pool or anything too extreme. Just old time luxury with Colombian hospitality and service that is typical of Four Seasons.
