The Partagás Salomones is one of the most visually striking cigars in the Cuban portfolio—a large, elegant double perfecto that showcases both the craftsmanship of Cuban torcedores and the bold character for which the Partagás brand is known. Measuring roughly 7¼ inches (184 mm) with a 57 ring gauge, it is a substantial cigar designed for a long, deliberate smoking experience.

Unlike straight-sided cigars, the Salomones features a tapered foot, swelling body, and pointed head, a shape that is notoriously difficult to roll and typically reserved for the most skilled rollers in the factory. This distinctive format allows the smoke to evolve as the burn widens through the cigar, gradually opening the draw and revealing new layers of flavor along the way.

In terms of character, the Salomones delivers the classic Partagás profile—full-bodied and rich, with the earthy intensity that comes from tobaccos grown in Cuba’s famed Vuelta Abajo region. Smokers commonly note flavors of leather, earth, cedar, and spice, with deeper notes of dark chocolate, coffee, and toasted nuts emerging as the cigar progresses. Toward the final third, the profile often softens with touches of sweetness such as honey, hazelnut, or dried fruit, creating a balanced yet powerful finish.

The vitola itself has an interesting history. The Salomones format existed in earlier eras of Cuban production but was later revived and eventually released as a La Casa del Habano exclusive, making it a sought-after cigar among collectors and enthusiasts.

Because of its size and complexity, the Partagás Salomones is best enjoyed when time is not a constraint. It typically burns for around 90 minutes or more, evolving gradually from the concentrated spice of the narrow foot to a broader, creamier richness through the midsection before finishing deep and full.

These were rolled in March of 2025 so they're very young and will need to age in my humidor for a few more years.

The Partagás Lusitanias is widely regarded as one of the great classic Cuban cigars and one of the most iconic offerings from the historic Partagás marque. Rolled in the traditional Double Corona vitola, the Lusitanias measures approximately 7⅝ inches (194 mm) with a 49 ring gauge, creating a long, elegant cigar that is known for its complexity, balance, and slow evolution throughout the smoke.

True to the Partagás name, the Lusitanias is built around the rich tobaccos of Cuba’s famed Vuelta Abajo region. From the first draw it delivers the deep, earthy character that the brand is known for, often opening with notes of leather, cedar, and pepper. As the cigar develops, the profile tends to broaden into layers of roasted coffee, cocoa, toasted wood, and warm spice, with occasional touches of sweetness that soften the strength and bring balance to the blend.

Because of its size, the Lusitanias is a cigar that rewards patience. The format allows the flavors to unfold gradually over time, typically providing well over an hour and a half of smoking. The first third often begins slightly sharper and more peppery, while the middle third brings greater creaminess and richness.
